Cartoonist artist Clifford Berryman created a cartoon based on the incident, which was also featured in The Washington Post newspaper on November 16, 1902.

This Roosevelt cartoon was later seen by a Russian Jew named Morris Miktom, who sold toffees in Brooklyn during the day.
