HYDERABAD: Telangana is leading the way in Covid vaccination, with almost 100 percent coverage of the first dosage, according to state Health Minister T. Harish Rao. He stated that Telangana is the only state in the country to achieve 100 percent immunisation of the first dosage. While launching the precautionary dosage vaccine for healthcare/frontline workers and senior individuals with comorbidities, he noted, "We have achieved 100% vaccination of the first dose and 78% of the second dose." According to the minister, the state has vaccinated 38% of 15-17-year-olds in less than a week. He urged everyone who is eligible for a booster dose to get it and use it to protect themselves from the infection. In addition to healthcare professionals, the minister stated that 6.60 lakh frontline workers in the state, such as police officers and sanitation workers, are eligible for the booster dose. People in nations like the United States and the United Kingdom are taking the booster dose because it provides additional protection, he said. People should get over their vaccine hesistancy and have no uncertainties in their minds, he said. He advised public officials to take an active role in the immunisation campaign to make it successful. In the presence of AIMIM floor leader in the Telangana Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi, local MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, and other legislators, the minister launched the special drive at the Charminar Unani Hospital.
