Hyderabad: In the second wave of corona epidemic, every state in India has been affected. In Telangana also, corona wreaked havoc, but corona cases have come down by 50 per cent in the last 18 days since the last one date in the state. State Director of Public Health and Family Welfare G Srinivasa Rao has informed in this regard. Rao said, 7,430 new cases of corona virus were registered in Telangana on May 1. On Tuesday, May 18, 3,891 new corona cases have been found in the state. A total of 2 lakh 37 thousand 843 cases of corona virus have been registered in Telangana between March 1 and May 18. Rao has said that 80 per cent of those infected in the second wave of corona have recovered. The remaining 20 per cent are currently undergoing treatment. He said that there have been 1,378 corona deaths in the state, which is 0.57 per cent of the total infected people. He also said that the positivity rate in the first wave was 3.78 per cent while in the second wave it has increased to 5.56 per cent. Refuting claims on social media about shortage of ICU beds and oxygen beds in the state, Rao said telangana currently has 22 per cent ICU beds and 33 per cent oxygen beds.
