National Forest Martyrs’ Day observed in Telangana

National Forest Martyrs’ Day was celebrated at Manugur Government Degree College on Friday and rich tributes were paid to forest employees who put their lives on the line. The visitors at the seminar titled ‘Forests protection students role’ which was organised by the aegis college’s National Service Scheme (NSS) unit. In the function, they recalled the sacrifices made by the forest staff in safeguarding the natural wealth across the country.

The college principal and the NSS programme manager B Srinivas speaking on the occasion remarked that every year many forest employees were killed either by hunters and wood smugglers or by the wild animals. He encouraged the students to actively involve themselves in the security of forests and in expanding the greenery. He mentioned that it is a need for collective efforts to preserve forests and wildlife which is the national wealth.

Vishwanath Gupta of Vasavi Club, Venkat of Rotary Club, Krishna Mohan of Lions Club Chandrashekhar of Green Warriors said that "It is everyone’s duty to remember sacrifices of forest staff and it should not be a one-day affair. We have to remember it daily". The college faculty Rama Tirupathi, S Ramesh Babu, Samba Murthy, Venkateswarlu, Sudhakar and Pavani were present and plantation was done in the college premises.
