Following the overwhelming reposed from the audience, The Gray Man, starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Dhanush, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Julia Butters, and Regé-Jean Page, the Russo brothers have announced a sequel and a spin-off to the film. The makers confirmed that Ryan will reprise his role of CIA mercenary Court Gentry aka Sierra Six in the second instalment of the franchise. The director duo will be making a return for the sequel and spin-off, where the new script will be written by The Gray Man co-writer Stephen McFeely. "The audience reaction to The Gray Man has been nothing short of phenomenal. We are so appreciative of the enthusiasm that fans across the world have had for this film. With so many amazing characters in the movie, we had always intended for the Gray Man to be part of an expanded universe, and we are thrilled that Netflix is announcing a sequel with Ryan, as well as a second script that we’re excited to talk about soon," the Russo Brothers said in a joint statement. Speaking about the character of Dhanush, Avik San, the Russo Brothers in a press conference said, "We have kept our opinions open to where Dhanush’s character goes from here in The Gray Man. We can’t reveal anything right now," they said, thereby hinting at The Gray Man sequel with Dhanush. Further, when Dhanush was asked what it would take for him to return to The Gray Man, the actor said, "A phone call." Fans are expecting Dhanush’s return in the second instalment of the film.
