The Little Mermaid: Release date, cast, streaming details

The Little Mermaid has been one of the year's most anticipated pictures, and with less than a week until its premiere, fans are buzzing with excitement and expectation. The Disney live-action remake has been met with both praise and criticism from online users. 

The Little Mermaid will be released in theaters on Friday, May 26, 2023. According to the official description the film says, "A young mermaid makes a deal with a sea witch to trade her beautiful voice for human legs so she can discover the world above water and impress a prince." The film is directed by American filmmaker Rob Marshall and stars Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, Jonah Hauer-King, and Javier Bardem.

Bailey portrays the mermaid princess Ariel, McCarthy the sea witch Ursula, Hauer-ruler the human prince Eric, and Bardem the sea ruler Triton. Noma Dumezweni plays Queen Selina, Eric's mother, while John Dagleish plays Mulligan, Eric's shipmate.

The Little Mermaid Set was primarily shot at Pinewood Studios in London, with some footage taken in Sardinia, Italy. The film's production was often delayed because of to the coronavirus epidemic, but the team continued. Around 90 days after its theatrical release, the fantasy picture will be accessible to stream on the popular platform Disney+. A monthly membership to Disney+ with ads starts at $8.
