Apple brings relief for Himachal amidst nationwide recession

Apple has given relief from the nationwide economic crisis that has arisen from the global recession. Had the yield of apples not increased in this financial year, this rate would have fallen below five per cent. This time the economic growth rate fell but apple horticulture did not let it fall below the national economic growth rate or growth rate. At present, where the country's growth rate is 5.0, Himachal has also fallen from above and rested at 5.6. The report of the Economic Survey presented in the House by Chief Minister Jairam Thakur revealed this.

For your information, let us tell you that in the year 2017-18, Himachal's growth rate was 6.8 percent. It increased to 7.1 percent in 2018-19. This time it has fallen to 5.6 per cent. According to the survey of the Department of Economics and Statistics, Government of Himachal Pradesh, the increase in horticultural produce in the primary sector has given a big boost to the growth rate. Agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry are the primary sectors. This time the growth rate of this area is 9.3 percent. In the current financial year 2019-20, horticulture yield increased by 42.82 percent from the previous year.

The total horticultural yield was seven lakh metric tons, then it was 6.64 lakh metric tons of apple horticulture. It is a different matter that the share of agro-horticulture and other allied sectors in the state's economy has come down to 12.73 percent in 2019-20, which was more than 50 percent a few decades ago. The Economic Survey has shaken the government to pay special attention to this area.
