Geneva: Taliban control of Afghanistan continues to grow. The situation remains alarming and fragile. Now, the United Nations (UN) has issued a major warning to the Taliban that the situation is getting out of control. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that the Taliban must stop the attack immediately. In a tweet, Guterres said that nothing but losing power is to be achieved as it will put Afghanistan in the grip of civil war for a long time and isolate the country in the world. "I am deeply disturbed by reports of Taliban-occupied areas in Afghanistan," said Guterres, secretary-general of the UN. It is appalling that the rights won by girls and women in Afghanistan with difficulty are being stripped back. UN is committed to promoting the rights of all Afghans and providing life-saving humanitarian help. The UN Secretary-General has since urged the Taliban to stop the attack and asked them to speak peacefully. He has said, "Afghanistan is getting out of control. Every day, conflict is weighing heavily on citizens, especially women and children. I remember their obligation to protect civilians to all sides and I call on the Taliban to immediately end this attack and return to the peace table."
