The stock market remain closed today, May 3 on account of Eid-ul-Fitr

The stock markets, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed today, May 3, on account of  Eid-ul-Fitr 2022 . During the morning session, however, the commodity markets will be closed. In the evening, commodity trading will resume as usual.

In addition to the stock markets, Banks across the country will be closed on May 3 for Bhagavan Shree Parshuram Jayanti, Eid (Eid-UI-Fitr), Basava Jayanti, and Akshaya Tritiya,. According to the RBI holiday calendar, only banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will be open on May 3.

The Indian stock market fell for the second straight session on Monday, owing to a sell-off in Infosys and Reliance Industries, as well as poor global stocks. The Sensex dropped 84.88 points to 56,975.99. It fell 648.25 points, or 1.13 percent, to 56,412.62 during the session. The Nifty finished at 17,069.10, down 33.45 points or 0.20 percent.

The biggest Sensex losers were Titan, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Maruti, Asian Paints, Larsen & Toubro, and SBI, which fell up to 2.95 percent. The top Sensex gainers were IndusInd Bank, NTPC, Power Grid, Tata Steel, HDFC, and ITC, which rose up to 4.17 percent. 19 of the 30 Sensex equities ended the day down.
