Hanoi: As tensions with Beijing in the South China Sea remain high, the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan will make a rare visit to the port city of Danang in Central Vietnam on Sunday. The ship will dock in Danang on Sunday afternoon and remain there until June 30, according to a spokesperson for the Vietnamese ministry of foreign affairs, which was quoted in the local media. Reuters' requests for comment from the spokesperson were not answered. Only three US aircraft carriers have visited since the end of the Vietnam War, including the USS Ronald Reagan. To commemorate 25 years since the Vietnam War's end in 1975, the USS Theodore Roosevelt made a port call in Vietnam in 2020.
