In early trade today, the value of rupee weakened by 4 paise to 64.20 against the US dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange.
According to the Forex Dealers, " the US dollar's gain against other currencies overseas and a lower opening of the domestic equity market put pressure on the rupee"
However, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell by 82.21 points, or 0.27 %, to 29,947.53 in early trade.
