Amid the rising price of onion, a government official has assured that consumers will get relief soon. A senior official of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs said that the importers have placed orders for importing onions and by the end of this month, one thousand tonnes of onions will come in the domestic market. During the past few months, onion prices have reached Rs 100 per kg in many markets including New Delhi-NCR. But after several steps of the government, its price has come down slightly. Nevertheless, it is selling up to Rs 60 per kg in most markets. Of these, around 1,000 tonnes of onions will arrive by the end of this month, while the second shipment will be received next month.
