These 5 Indians imprisoned in Pakistan jail even after completing their sentence

Islamabad: The Pakistan government is not releasing 5 Indians who have been sentenced by Pakistan's Field General Court Martial (FGCM). Five Indians are awaiting their release even after the entire sentence was completed in the Central Jail in Lahore. The names of these Indians are Birju Duong alias Birchu, Vigyan Kumar, Ghanshyam Kumar and Satish Bhog and Sonu Singh. Sonu Singh is in Karachi Central Jail. According to the information, Birju Duong had completed his sentence on April 29, 2007.

Even after more than 13 years of completion of the sentence, the Government of Pakistan is not ready to release him. The sentence of Ghanshyam and Vigyan Kumar was completed on 19th June 2014. Satish Bhog's sentence was completed on May 6, 2015. Similarly, Sonu Singh, imprisoned in Karachi Central Jail, had completed the sentence on March 3, 2012. In the meantime, the two countries have released citizens and fishermen who have been sentenced to full punishment in jails in their countries several times.

The Indian Embassy in Islamabad has repeatedly apprised the Government of Pakistan about the demand for the release of these citizens. So far, these Indians have not been released. On behalf of the Government of Pakistan, an Indian High Commission official in Islamabad, Aparna Ray has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court through local lawyer Malik Shahnawaz for not showing seriousness on the release of these Indians.
