These are the most expensive cities of the country, where living is a tough job for a common man

Mercer's 2024 Cost of Living Survey has unveiled the list of India's most expensive cities, highlighting the challenges faced by residents due to soaring living costs. Mumbai has secured the top spot as the priciest city in the country, driven by exorbitant real estate prices and high living expenses across the board.

Delhi follows closely as the second most expensive city, with both cities climbing in global rankings for costliness. Mumbai, previously at 147th place, has risen to 136th, while Delhi now stands at 164th globally. These rankings underscore the financial strain faced by average citizens trying to make ends meet in these metropolitan areas.

Chennai has also seen a notable increase in its cost of living index, now positioned at 189th globally, followed by Bengaluru at 195th, Hyderabad at 202nd, and Pune at 205th. Kolkata rounds off the list at 207th place, highlighting the widespread affordability crisis affecting urban residents.

For many, owning a home in these cities remains a distant dream, with the escalating cost of living making it increasingly unattainable for the average individual. As expenses continue to soar, the prospect of saving enough to afford a decent standard of living becomes ever more challenging.
