Indore: Unidentified thieves decamped with cash and valuables kept in the donation boxes of Chakkiwale Mahadev temple in Mhow on Thursday night, said temple trust officials. They said that all the doors of those temples were locked in the evening and when the priest arrived at the temple in the morning he found that the locks were broken and doors were open. Everything else was in place, except the donation boxes. Those associated with the temple said that the donation boxes had not been opened for the last seven months - since the outbreak of Corona - so there is a possibility that the thieves had stolen anywhere between Rs 15,000 to 20,000. There are a number of CCTV cameras in the vicinity of the temple and according to Mhow police they are checking the footage of all the cameras to see all the people who went towards the temple at night. Police said that they believe that the theft took place in the wee hours of Friday. Meanwhile, locals are unhappy with police patrolling at night. They pointed out that they have no seen police patrolling the town at night in the last few months. In the recent past, thieves have struck at two temples in Kishanganj area and also stole valuables from the house of a well-known local businessman in Mhow market.
