Veerangana Rani Durgawati was born on this day. Rani Durgawati was born on 5th October 1524 and passed away on 24th June 1564. Mahoba's Chandel king was the daughter of Salbahan. After four years of his marriage, after the untimely demise of his husband Gaur Raja Dalpat Shah, he began to rule his son Veernarayan as his mentor by sitting on the throne. There was a lot of progress in the state under their rule. Durgawati had a good practice of running arrows and guns. He had a special interest in the poaching of leopards. The name of his state was Gondwana whose centre was Jabalpur. He is famous for taking iron from the Mughal ruler of Allahabad, Asaf Khan. He was the only child of King Kirtivarman/Kirtisinh Chandel of Rani Durgawati Kalinjar. Chandel Lodhi is a part of the branch of Rajput dynasty. He was named DurgaVati due to birth on Durga Mashtami of 1524 A.D. at Kalinjar Fort in Banda district. According to the name, the fast, courage, valour and beauty spread their fame all over. Durgawati's maiden and in-laws were different, but still influenced by durgawati's fame, King Sangram Shah of the Gondwana Empire married his son Dalpat Shah Madavi and made him his daughter. At the same time, unfortunately, after four years of marriage, King Dalpatshah passed away. At that moment, durgawati's lap was three-year-old Narayan. So the Queen herself took over the rule of Gadmandla. They built many monasteries, wells, bawdi and Dharamshalas. The present Jabalpur was the centre of his state. He built the base in the name of his maid in the name of Cherital, Ranital in his name and his trusted Diwan Basesingh. At the same time, Rani Durgawati has fought in her life.
