Patna: The number 112 for emergency services in Bihar will soon be launched. State Planning and Development Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said that the number will be operational in the next financial year in Bihar. He said in the Assembly that people can call the toll-free number for all emergency services including police, fire and health. He informed the Assembly that the Emergency Response Support System will be a pan-India single number (112) for the public in case of emergencies, which will be launched in the state in the financial year 2022-23. He also said that with the commencement of this, all the emergency calls will be received from the same and those in distress will be forwarded to the concerned departments for quick assistance. The ERSS centre will operate 24 hours a day. A senior home department official later said that the ERSS project will be started from Patna and implemented in a phased manner in the state. ERSS is a central project for emergency response. He said that it also provides funds to the states for this. The introduction of this service will greatly benefit the common people.
