This time Modi wave is larger than 2014: Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in an exclusive interview with Times Now said that that PM Narendra Modi will return with a thumping majority. He said that there's a bigger 'Modi wave' this time than what was in 2014. "Bhartiya Janta Party will get maximum seats from Maharashtra and in fact, if there's a rating for PM Modi, it’s highest in Mumbai. Mumbaikar is in love with PM Modi," he said.

On the question of the recent string of accidents in the city raising questions on the maintenance and robustness of infrastructure, Chief Minister Fadnavis said that the government is learning from each incident. Pointing to the recent bridge collapse at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mr. Fadnavis said that the government has changed the frequency of audits and the process of audits as well. 

CM Fadnavis whle answering the question about the Maratha's reservation and the debate of merit over quota, said that as far as the question of employment is concerned then the extent of investment that Maharashtra has attracted unparalleled investment when compared to other states in the country. "Around 49% of the total Foreign Direct Investment in the country in 2016-17 is from Maharashtra," said Fadnavis.  

Refuting the Opposition's charge of corruption through demonetisation, he said that middle class and the poor supported the process the most and the common people understood the larger goal of the process. 

On the question of BJP's campaign focus shifting from development to Hindutva and the candidature of Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya from Bhopal, he said, "Sadhvi Pragya's candidature is answer to those who tried to insult the Hindu religion," said Fadnavis.
