The arrival of 54-year-old elephant Thechikottukavu Ramachandran at the temple ground who kickstarted the celebrations was another spectacular event that witnesses large crowds. While the tusker's presence at the festivities was controversial with an earlier ban, thousands of fans cheered as the tusker entered the ground.
