Mamata's Bengal Faces BJP Challenge: Nadda Predicts 35+ Seats

Kolkata: BJP national president JP Nadda expressed confidence on Monday, stating that the BJP is poised to win more than 35 constituencies in West Bengal. He attributed this predicted success to the dissatisfaction among the people with the 'anarchy' prevailing under the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government.

Nadda criticized the TMC regime, particularly focusing on allegations of abuse and excesses against women and incidents of land-grab, especially in Sandeshkhali. He expressed distress over reports of women feeling threatened by goons allegedly backed by the ruling party.

In a personalized video address, Nadda highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation under the Mamata Banerjee-led government. He condemned instances such as the intimidation of women by individuals like Sheikh Shahjahan in Sandeshkhali. Nadda lamented the attack on central investigating agencies, which were obstructed while attempting to protect the honor and dignity of women.

Referring to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the residence of an individual allegedly linked to a TMC leader, believed to be a close aide of Shahjahan, Nadda questioned whether Mamata's 'strongmen' were resorting to threats and violence to influence the ongoing general elections.

Asserting that Sandeshkhali had become a symbol of resistance against the 'cruelty' and 'ruthlessness' of the Mamata regime, Nadda expressed confidence that the people would give a fitting reply to the ruling party in the ongoing elections.

Nadda emphasized that during the searches in Sandeshkhali, a joint team of the CBI and NSG bomb squads recovered a significant arsenal, including foreign-made revolvers, state police firearms, bullets, and cartridges. He underscored the role of NSG commandos in ensuring public safety during the searches.

The CBI, along with NSG bomb squads, conducted searches in two premises in Sandeshkhali and the North 24 Parganas district during Phase 2 of the Lok Sabha elections. The searches were part of the agency's probe into the attack on a team from the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).

The recovery included foreign-made pistols and revolvers, state police firearms, and a large quantity of ammunition. Additionally, incriminating documents related to Sheikh Shahjahan were found, along with suspected country-made explosives, which were subsequently disabled or disposed of by the agency.
