Thus Uri actor will essay the role of Ravi Shastri in Ranveer Singh's '83

Kabir Khan directorial '83 is one of the most anticipated films which was in the buzz right since its inception. The film which has Ranveer Singh play the titular role of the former Indian Cricket Team skipper Kapil Dev will depict the historic win of Team India at the 1983 World Cup. The film will have actor Dhairya Karwa, who was last seen in the Vicky Kaushal starrer URI: The Surgical Strike will essay the role of cricketer Ravi Shastri.

Dhairya has still not met the cricketer but is very elated to essay his part of the film nevertheless., Dhairya told Bombay Times, “I really want to meet him (Ravi Shastri), because I keep hearing amazing stories about him. He has been a part of my cricket experience of the 90s and early 2000’s. So, when I landed the part, I thought that I should read up everything about Ravi sir. I’ve been watching all his interviews and videos to get his body language right. I’ve also been playing cricket for five months now, and the focus is to pick up his style. It’s challenging because I am a natural right-arm, and he was a left-arm bowler. I’m also working on my diction and his style of speaking.”

Dhairya further stated, “It’s a huge responsibility and a privilege. He’s been omnipresent in the game across generations in different roles. So, I do have big shoes to fill, but I don’t feel pressurised. I auditioned and got selected for the part.”

The film stars Ranveer Singh, Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem and Chirag Patil, reprising the India national cricket team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
