Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), the central investigating agency probing the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam (SSC scam), is continuing its action. The ED had raided the premises of another leader of West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) a day earlier. The ED has arrested TMC leader Kuntal Ghosh after hours of raids and marathon questioning. According to the report, TMC youth wing leader Kuntal Ghosh is also accused in the scam in recruitment in schools. Kuntal Ghosh's residence in Hooghly district was raided by the ED on Friday. Kuntal Ghosh is accused of extorting Rs 19.5 crore from job seekers between 2014 and 2021. Kuntal Ghosh was named by Tapan Mandal, another accused in the scam, during the interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Kuntal Ghosh was questioned continuously for two days by the CBI in this case. The CBI had issued a summons to Kuntal Ghosh's city office for this. After two consecutive days of questioning by the CBI, the ED came into action for the third day and raided Kuntal's residence in Hooghly district. Kuntal Ghosh was arrested by the central agency after a search operation and questioning that lasted for nearly 24 hours.
