Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Mamata Banerjee, is celebrating Martyrdom Day today. On this occasion, the party is going to organize a digital rally for the first time. On this day, TMC organizes 'Martyr Day' in memory of 13 people killed in police firing in the year 1993. Mamata was the leader of the Youth Congress at that time, who had called for a march towards the Secretariat to demand the voter ID card as a document to vote. During this time, 13 people were killed in the firing by the police. Mamata Banerjee can also address at 2 pm. She wrote in a tweet, "Today is 21 July, Martyr's Day. On this day in 1993, 13 of our workers were killed in the firing carried out on the orders of the predecessor government. We have been organizing a rally since 1993, in memory of the martyrs. We have been celebrating the Martyr's Day rally in a different way this year. If people are blessed, we will hold the biggest rally in July 2021. " However, a section of the party is skeptical about whether this rally will leave the same effect as earlier rallies. Assembly elections in West Bengal are now just 10 months left. Today's rally will be a suitable platform for the CM and party supremo Mamata Banerjee regarding the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections.
