TN CM appeals Governor again to send Bill against NEET for Presidential assent

Chennai: On Tuesday, ahead of the State Legislative Assembly's Budget session, which is set to begin on March 18, Tamil nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin met with Governor R.N. Ravi at the Raj Bhavan and reiterated his request to send the Bill against NEET, which was passed by the House for the second time, for Presidential assent as soon as possible.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister mentioned additional bills and files with the Governor that have been "waiting for several months" and said that "by taking action on these, the honour of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly might be maintained," according to a government release. It went on to say that people's feelings could also be respected.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Governor assured the Chief Minister that the bill seeking to exempt Tamil Nadu from the NEET will be given to the President, according to the report. The meeting is significant since the academic year 2022-23 is about to begin.

On Tuesday, a special session of the Assembly 'unanimously' re-adopted a bill that would eliminate NEET as a requirement for admission to undergraduate medical programmes in the state. Governor R.N. Ravi just returned the bill, which was previously adopted in September.
