Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak to Olympic-bound athletes online on July 13. He will interact with the sportspersons to wish them luck for the July 23 to August 8 Games. The interaction will be held virtually owing to the COVID-19 situation. As per the official statement, over 115 Indian athletes have qualified so far for Tokyo Olympics which will commence on July 23 and will run up to August 8 this year. The Games were scheduled to be held last year, but the event was deferred due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On July 8, it was announced that the upcoming Tokyo Olympics will be held sans spectators as there was a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases in the region.
