Torrential Monsoon Rains in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The entire Konkan region and Mumbai have been receiving torrential rains since the beginning of July. In fact, the city has performed extremely well in terms of Monsoon rains in June as well.

During last 24 hours, from 8.30 am of Saturday, the Santa Cruz observatory in Mumbai recorded a whopping 93 mm of rain.

Water logging has hit normal life in the city of dreams. Even rail and air transport have been affected due to incessant rains.

Flights taking off and landing in Mumbai were delayed by at least 45 minutes on Saturday due to poor visibility.

Continuous rains have flooded the low-lying areas of central Mumbai . People were seen walking through knee-deep waters in several places including Andheri, Dadar, Parel and Worli.

Local train services were also seen running about 20 minutes behind schedules due to waterlogging on the tracks.

A similar situation is likely in Mumbai for next 24 to 48 hours as the Monsoon surge remain strong over Mumbai and the West Coast, particularly Konkan & Goa.
