According to Statistics Indonesia, the total number of international tourist arrivals from January to February 2022 was 33,593. (BPS). "The number has increased significantly when compared to last year, indicating that our tourism sector is improving," BPS chief Margo Yuwono said at a press conference. "However, it is still far below the millions of foreign tourists we used to record before the Covid-19 pandemic." In February, Chinese tourists made up 16.13 percent of all visitors, followed by Russians at 6.77 percent and South Koreans at 6.35 percent. Yuwono predicted that Indonesia will see an increase in tourist arrivals in the following months as the government eased a number of limitations, such as removing quarantine requirements for international travellers and offering special visa-on-arrival services to dozens of nations.
