Toyota Motor Corp. to halt work in UK and France

Toyota Motor Corp. has decided to stop its production work in the UK and France from Tuesday due to transport issues and delays caused by a mutant strain of coronavirus spreading in the UK. It also led many countries to close its borders with the nation. The spokeswoman of Toyota, Shino Yamada said about the closure of borders that it disrupted the transportation of parts.

Globally, many countries have moved swiftly to close their borders with the United Kingdom amid the fear of the fast-spreading new strain of corona which is infecting even more people. This is causing widespread delays of goods going in and out of the country(UK).

France plays like an early mover. It suspended travel, including freight, on 20th December. Locations from Canada to Hong Kong and India have also severed travel links. Toyota is planning to close its UK and France plants starting 24th December for the winter holiday season. Another Toyota vehicle plant in the UK will halt operations from 23rd December.
