A devastating fire in Kuwait has claimed the lives of at least 41 people and left 50 injured in Mangaf, as reported by the state-run Kuwait News Agency. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning, engulfing the building and trapping many inside. According to Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, the fire resulted in the deaths of 41 individuals. Among the victims were 10 Indians, including five Malayalis, two Keralites, one from Tamil Nadu, and one from Uttar Pradesh. The building was home to approximately 195 laborers, many of whom hailed from Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The tragic incident took place in a building owned by the NBTC group, belonging to Malayali businessman KG Abraham, according to Onmanorama, a daily news portal. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. He confirmed that the Indian ambassador to Kuwait has visited the site to assess the situation and provide assistance. "Deeply shocked by the news of the fire incident in Kuwait city. There are reportedly over 40 deaths and over 50 have been hospitalized. Our Ambassador has gone to the camp. We are awaiting further information," Jaishankar said. "Our Embassy will render the fullest assistance to all concerned in this regard," he added. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait has set up an emergency helpline number, +965-65505246, and urged all affected individuals to contact the helpline for updates. Authorities in Kuwait are coordinating with relevant agencies to manage the aftermath of the fire, including law enforcement, fire service, and health authorities.
