Ranchi: In a tragic incident, five Kanwar Yatra pilgrims were electrocuted to death in Jharkhand's Latehar district on Thursday. The accident occurred around 3 am in the Tam Tam Tola area when the pilgrims were returning from the Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar. Their vehicle collided with an electricity pole, causing a high-tension overhead wire to fall onto their vehicle. The fallen wire led to the electrocution of the five individuals. Additionally, three other pilgrims were injured in the accident. Balumath sub-divisional police officer Ashutosh Kumar Satyam confirmed the incident, stating, "A high-tension overhead wire fell on their vehicle. Five people were killed and three others injured." The injured pilgrims have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities are investigating the incident to understand the exact circumstances that led to this unfortunate accident. The Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage in which devotees of Lord Shiva walk to collect water from the Ganges and other holy rivers to offer at Shiva temples.
