Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has reported an expansion in the due date for remarks on the consultation note for across the country rollout of interoperable and scalable open Wi-Fi systems. The consultation note was issued on 15 November, and the past due date for accepting remarks was set on 25 November. Stakeholders asked for an expansion in the due date, and Trai has obliged. Trai declared the new due date on 9 December in a public statement. Stakeholders need to send their remarks to Trai, the favored mode is through the email address. Partners can contact Trai for any elucidation on the meeting note. Earlier Trai had issued consultation paper , Taking after the consultation paper, Trai held a workshop in Bengaluru with industry agents and scientists. As a consequence of the workshop, Trai issued a discussion note on a model for across the country interoperable and scalable open Wi-Fi systems. The model incorporated a registry of suppliers, and a system for Adhaar connected confirmation. The Internet Freedom Foundation has said that the model favors telecom administrators, and the pointless confirmation prerequisites will back off the rollout of broadband access.
