An affidavit was filed on July 2, in Supreme Court by AIMPLB which stated "Polygamy is a social need and blessing and not a curse for women."
AIMPLB said: "An unlawful mistress is more harmful for social fabric than a lawful second wife. Men have greater power of decision making. They are more likely to control emotions and not to take a hasty decision."
But known lyricist Javed Akhtar stands up in opposition and tweeted, "I condemn Muslim personal law board in the strongest words for justifying instant divorce. They are the worst enemies of their own community."
