Trump supporter Kari Lake loses the governor's race in Arizona

USA: According to Edison Research, Arizona's Republican candidate for governor of Kari Lake lost the election in 2020 despite being one of the most prominent figures supporting former President Donald Trump's false claims of voter fraud.

Projected to be a battleground state in the 2024 US presidential election, the closely contested gubernatorial race of Arizona between Republican Greg Lake and Democrat Katie Hobbs was one of the most important in the general election.

Lake vowed to outlaw mail-in voting in the state after conspiracy theorists falsely claimed that it was susceptible to fraud, leading to a vote on behalf of voters in protecting the voting method used by hundreds of thousands. There is a lack of trust of Americans.

His defeat for the Democrats ended after a successful week in which he rejected Republican predictions of a "red wave" in the midterm elections.

After grabbing seats in two swing states, Arizona and Nevada, Democrats were able to retain control of the US Senate thanks to a tie-breaking vote from Vice President Kamala Harris.

If Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock defeats Republican rival Herschelle Walker in the Georgia run-off on December 6, the party could gain absolute majority control, consolidating its influence on committees, legislation and judicial appointments.

The hope that voters would punish Democrats for record inflation, including high fuel and food prices, was denied by his victories in gubernatorial, congressional and statehouse elections.

Instead, by mobilizing voters upset by the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn the constitutional right to abortion, Democrats were able to cushion their losses.

Former television news anchor Lake was one of several Republican candidates who supported Trump and lost in competing states. In contests for gubernatorial and other statewide election positions, voters in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin also rejected those who refused the election.

In Arizona, Biden defeated Trump in a close contest in the 2020 election. When she defended Arizona's election results against Trump's allegations of voter fraud, Hobbs, the current secretary of state for state, drew national attention.

His victory on Monday represents a Democratic takeover of the Republican governorship currently held by Doug Ducey. After the November 8 election, vote counting continued in Arizona for nearly a week. Arizona mandates that voter signatures of early ballots be verified before processing.

According to officials, this year, hundreds of thousands of early votes were cast in drop boxes on election day, leading to a delay in counting.

Issues with temporary electronic vote-counting machines on election day in Maricopa County were cited by Lake and Trump as evidence that the Republican vote was being suppressed.

A judge denied a request to extend voting hours, saying Republicans had not shown that voters were denied their right to vote as a result of the case.

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Lake claimed that the lengthy vote counting process was "trampling" on voters' rights and was further evidence that Arizona's election administration needed to change.

When she ran for governor, he promised she would stop it. "We can no longer be the laughing stock of elections in Arizona," he said.
