Raipur: Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo expressed confidence on Saturday after the conclusion of the second and final phase of Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, stating that the Congress is poised to form the government again. He noted that the positive impact of the work done by the Bhupesh Baghel government has resonated with the public. Speaking to the media, TS Singh Deo stated, "Congress will form the government. The voting percentage is healthy, with an average around 72-73 percent. The work done by Congress will have a direct impact. Congress will win in my seat." Chhattisgarh, with polling on 70 seats in the second phase, witnessed a voter turnout of over 70 percent. The first phase of polling for 20 seats took place on November 7. In a separate statement, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed confidence in the Congress party's success in the upcoming state assembly elections in Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The second phase of polling in Chhattisgarh involved over 18,800 polling stations. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, anticipating victory on more than 75 seats, remarked, "The fight here is one-sided; there is no competition." Contesting candidates, including Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Assembly Speaker Charandas Mahant, Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, BJP state president Arun Sao, and Leader of Opposition Narayan Chandel, await the electoral outcome. The assembly polls, occurring nearly six months ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, carry significance for both the BJP and Congress. The counting of votes in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, along with Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram, is scheduled for December 3.
