Twitter shows J&K as Chinese territory, calls it a 'technical issue'

After making blunded mistake of showing Jammu & Kashmir as part of the Peoples Republic of China in its timelines, Twitter on Monday called it a technical issue.  A day after stirring a storm on social media the micro-blogging site Twitter on Monday called it a 'technical issue' and confirmed that it has resolved the problem now.

Twitter gave clarification on the issue and giant stressed that it "respects" the sensitivities around the issue and has launched an internal investigation in the matter.  Let us tell you that the matter came to light when national security analyst Nitin Gokhale went live on Twitter from Leh’s war memorial, Hall of Fame near the Leh Airport in Jammu & Kashmir. He “Tweeple pl put Hall of Fame Leh as your location for live broadcast and see what’s happening. It shows location as Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Republic of China,” Gokhale wrote on his Twitter handle. He Twitted, “I tested it again. Outrageous. Pl flood Twitter with complaints. GoI should take immediate action."

Reacting to the mistake by Twitter, distinguished fellow at Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Delhi and chairman of Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF), Kanchan Gupta tweeted: “So @Twitter has decided to reconfigure geography and declare Jammu & Kashmir as part of People’s Republic of #China. If this is not a violation of #India laws, what is? Citizens of India have been punished for far less. But US Big Tech is above the law?”
