Twitterati trolls Shabana Azmi on her message to PM

After a long election campaign, with months of voting, spread over seven phases, India’s 879 million voters have spoken and they have voted for Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister. Yesterday, while all eyes were glued to the television, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was elected as the PM for the second term and soon after BJP’s landslide victory, congratulatory messages started to pour in for the PM and his party.

But amidst all the congratulatory and good wishes, when veteran actress Shabana Azmi tweeted a congratulatory message to PM, she was instantly trolled on social media. Why?

Because a few days back, Shabana Azmi was in the news when it was being reported that Shabana has said that if PM Narendra Modi wins, she will leave India. However, the actress had later slammed ‘fake news brigade’ for attributing a false quote to her and rubbished all the reports in a tweet saying that she is born in this country and will take her last breath here only.

And therefore, soon after PM Modi was elected as the PM for the second term, Shabana congratulated the PM on Twitter as she wrote, “What a strong mandate the people of India have given. Congratulations @narendramodi and NDA led by BJP,” but the actress was massively trolled on Twitter.

While some users mocked Shabana for congratulating the PM when she had said that she would leave the country if Modi becomes the PM, others asked her when she is leaving India.
