NEW DELHI: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has detained 2 criminals for committing Rs 16 lakh robbery to buy advanced weapons to eliminate the rival gang members, said an official on Tuesday, February 28. The culprits were identified as Lakshay alias Pandit alias Junglee and Himanshu, both residents of village Jatola in district Sonipat, Haryana. According to the officer, the accused was also found to have been previously involved in seven cases, including three murder charges that were filed in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Police say that on February 9, a 24-year-old complainant reported to authorities that he and his companion had amassed almost Rs 16 lakh from various locations, and that on their way back to the office, when they stopped at a cigarette shop, two guys held them up at gunpoint and stole the money and their car. Special Commissioner of Police Ravindra Singh Yadav stated, "During inquiry, certain information were received regarding the accused after which a trap was laid near Arya Samaj Akhada, Bankner, and pair was nabbed." During questioning, Lakshay revealed that he was a prisoner in Sonipat jail alongside a man named Ankit alias Maya, and that after their release, Ankit contacted him and said that he needed money to buy high-tech weapons because he wanted to kill some members of his rival gang Sunny Deo alias Kookie Gang.
