Two drug smugglers from Pakistan were apprehended in Kupwara

Kupwara: Jammu and Kashmir - On Monday, Kupwara police announced the arrest of two smugglers and the recovery of 500 grammes of heroin imported from Pakistan.

The two attempted to flee from a police naka, according to an official statement (checkpoint). Police team apprehended the duo after noticing suspicious movement and a deliberate intention to jump the naka. During a personal search, they discovered 230 gms of Heroin-like substance in Ishtiyaq Ahmad Qureshi, a resident of Taad, and 270 gms of the banned drug in Basharat Hussain Shah, a resident of Padna Taad Karnah.

According to prelimianry investigations, the drugs were brought to this side of the Line of Control by the couple in collusion with Pakistani nationals," the official notice states.

In Police Station Karnah, a FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.In addition, the situation is still being investigated.
