Heavy rain, hailstorm and cloudburst have caused extensive damage in several districts of Himachal Pradesh. In Shimla district, two Nepali labourers have lost their lives due to lightning in Sarahan under Rampur Busher. According to reports, two Nepali laborers were returning home after completing work in the fields in the Mashnu area but in the meantime, heavy rains started, and both resorted to trees to avoid it. Meanwhile, lightning struck the tree and both of them lost their lives on the spot. The incident was reported to the police from the local panchayat pradhan. After which a police team led by ASI Sunil Dutt reached the spot. The bodies of the deceased were brought to civil hospital Sarahan with the help of locals. A postmortem of the bodies will be conducted on Wednesday and further action will be taken. Both the deceased used to work as labourers with a gardener in Mashnu. DSP Rampur Chandrashekhar confirmed the incident and said that a case is being registered and further investigation is being conducted. In the Chamba district, nearly 30 sheep and goats have lost their lives due to cloudburst in Pulan Panchayat of Bharmaur. According to reports, sheep and goats were buried in the debris after the cloudburst. Meanwhile, The Bharmour-Pulan-Suppa and Bharmour-Shirdi-Badgram routes have been blocked. SDM Bharmouri Manish Soni said a revenue department team has been sent to the spot to assess the damage caused by the cloudburst. It is also being said that orange alert of heavy rain and hailstorm has been sounded in 10 plain and central hilly districts of Himachal Pradesh from today. Most of the areas of these districts are forecast to witness cloudy conditions from May 11 to 13. The Meteorological Centre, Shimla has also appealed to the administration to remain vigilant. The weather is likely to be bad across the state till May 16.
