VIENNA: In the wake of the ongoing conflict, Ukraine has presented the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with a detailed list of equipment it requires for the safe and secure functioning of its nuclear facilities, Rafael Grossi, the head of the Vienna-based UN watchdog has announced. According to the IAEA, Ukraine's list includes various radiation detection devices, protective materials, computer-related help, power supply systems, and diesel generators for various nuclear plants in the nation. "The exact equipment needs to be provided through the IAEA's Unified System for Information Sharing in Incidents and Emergencies (USIE), a secure web portal for the exchange of notifications and other emergency-related information between countries," Grossi said in a statement on Sunday. When Grossi visited the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant last month, the IAEA provided some equipment to Ukraine, and more will be delivered when he visits Chornobyl this week, the report said. Since the war began on February 24, the Russian military has taken control of two nuclear power stations, Zaporizhzhya and Chornobyl, which have now been returned to Ukraine's control.
