Union Cabinet Approves Manmad-Indore Railway Line Project for Rs 18,036 Cr

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a major infrastructure project—the Manmad-Indore railway line. Spanning 309 kilometers and costing Rs 18,036 crore, this new railway line is set to significantly improve connectivity in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The project is expected to take around eight years to complete, involving extensive planning and construction. Once finished, it will enhance transportation links to several key areas, including industrial zones, agricultural hubs, and religious sites.

Key Benefits of the Manmad-Indore Railway Line:

Boosting Industrial Connectivity: The railway line will provide improved access to the Pithampur Industrial Area, which houses major companies such as Mahindra, VE Commercial Vehicles, Force Motors, and Rathi Steel Industries.

Religious and Tourist Access: It will facilitate easier travel to the Sri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple and other important religious sites in the Ujjain-Indore region, benefiting pilgrims and tourists.

Agricultural Support: The line will link onion-producing regions in Northern Maharashtra, including Nashik, Dhule, and Nandurbar, as well as areas known for millet production, such as jowar and corn.

Enhanced Tribal Connectivity: It will improve transportation to tribal areas in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, including Nashik, Dhule, Barwani, Khargone, and Dhar, integrating these regions into the national economy.

Key Features of the Project:

41 km Tunnel: A significant engineering feat to navigate the Vindhya ranges. Seven Bridges: Equipped with double-line provisions to support high traffic volumes. Direct Access: Improved connectivity to the Pithampur Industrial Area and religious sites in the Ujjain-Indore region.

This project is a critical part of the government's strategy to enhance infrastructure and economic integration across remote and underserved regions.
