WASHINGTON: Pakistan's efforts to raise the issue of Jammu and Kashmir on the international stage after the removal of Section 370 have been dealt a severe blow. The United Nations has rejected Pakistan's demand for an open discussion on the issue. In fact, at 7:30 p.m. Indian time on Friday evening, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has agreed to an informal meeting on the issue at the request of China, but it will have a closed-door consultation. Instead, Pakistan wants the issue to be discussed in the open meeting so that it can have an opportunity to propagate its propaganda. But the United Nations has rejected Pak's nefarious demand. In fact, the Security Council has agreed to hold an informal meeting on the issue. It does not include any non-members other than 15 members of the Security Council. The meeting is not even in the Council Chamber but in a side room away from the public eye. China has proposed the meeting under the United Nations Agenda item 'India Pakistan Quschchan'. It does not mention the word 'Kashmir'.
