In the so-called “Information Age” we have the world at our fingertips. With computers, smart phones, iPads, you name it, you can access virtually anything, any time.

You need to disconnect from these immediately. Wait! We’re not saying technology is bad; It’s great! But if you’re addicted then it could be a problem. Here are ways to replace texting and surfing the web to bring balance back into your life.

Try writing letters: Earlier we took the time and poured our hearts out into writing a letter. Those were real emotions. There is something special about receiving letters. Opening letters and texts messages are totally different.

Exploring real life: It is nice when you see somebody’s post, their special days, where they’re headed etc. on social sites. But you might start living vicariously through your friends, if you’re not careful. Stop staring and start exploring. Don’t to glued to your phone, instead go about exploring places and things yourself, it’s more pleasing and satisfactory. You’ll get the exercise benefits and some fresh air at the very least. Feel free to snap photos on your journeys, but wait until you get home to share them so you’re still focusing on exploring and not shouting out your location to focus on the electronic world.

Talk face to face: I’m sure most of us have sat with our phones while our families have been sitting in the same room for hours, not uttering a word to them. Texting is replacing serious conversations about relationship problems that may need to be resolved. Take time out of your phone and engage in a healthy conversation. You’ll realize how much better it is.

Most people delay doing some important work only because they are glued to the social world.
