NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, January 24, extended his warm wishes to the people of Uttar Pradesh as the state celebrated its 76th foundation day. Highlighting the state's rich cultural legacy, PM Modi praised Uttar Pradesh as a "sacred land" that has continuously contributed to the nation's progress. On the foundation day of Uttar Pradesh, I extend my heartfull greetings to all my brothers and sisters of this remarkable state. This sacred land, which has been a witness to countless mythological and historical milestones in Indian culture, has been scripting new chapters of development over the past eight years," PM Modi shared in a message on X. The Prime Minister expressed confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the dedication of the state's people, assuring that Uttar Pradesh would play a significant role in building a prosperous India. Prime Minister Modi said - I firmly believe that with a government dedicated to public welfare, along with the exceptional talent and unwavering efforts of the people here, Uttar Pradesh will play a significant role in building a developed India. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended his congratulations to the people of the state. "Heartfelt congratulations to the people of Uttar Pradesh on the state’s 76th foundation day. UP Foundation Day 2025: Celebrating 76 Years of Uttar Pradesh's Legacy Uttar Pradesh's Foundation Day was first celebrated in 2018, following a suggestion by former state governor Ram Naik to observe January 24 as Uttar Pradesh Day. This marked the first official celebration of the occasion since India’s independence in 1947.After independence, India comprised various provinces that gradually merged to form states. On January 24, 1950, the United Provinces was officially renamed Uttar Pradesh, gaining its status as a state. This occasion highlights the state's rich history and significant contributions to India's development. It serves as a moment to reflect on Uttar Pradesh's historical journey, cultural heritage, and its vital role in shaping the nation. This year marks the 76th anniversary of the state's formation, and celebrations will span three days, from January 24 to January 26. The main events will be held at Awadh Shilp Gram in Lucknow, featuring vibrant cultural programs, exhibitions, and tributes to the state's glorious legacy.
