New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, September 20, urged for the "decentralisation" of urban planning mentioning that the decentralisation planning should be done at the state level.
The Prime Minister went on to say that with the development of satellite towns, the pressure on cities will come down. In a video conferencing, Prime Minister Modi spoke to the BJP's Council of Mayors and Deputy Mayors during their meeting in Gujarat "The budget for this year has placed a strong emphasis on urban development. The decentralisation of urban planning is essential. State-level urban planning is necessary since Delhi cannot handle everything. The country is home to a large number of satellite towns that are growing up around the major cities. The satellite towns need to be strategically developed. Only then will the strain on the cities ease ".
The Prime Minister praised the conference's organisation and stated that it will play a "significant role in developing a road map for India's urban development for the next 25 years during Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav."
"Our country relies on Bharatiya Janata Party. It's the responsibility of all Mayors to work from the grassroots level. Better facilities to be given and growth should be well-oreinted," said PM Modi in his speech.
He also reminded the Mayors of the responsibility to work from the grassroots level.
