Urmila Matondkar Discloses Her Net Worth in 2019 Election Affidavit, What it Shows

Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar, who ran for the Mumbai North seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as a Congress candidate, faced defeat. Ahead of the election, she disclosed her financial details in an affidavit, revealing the income, assets, and liabilities of both herself and her husband, Mohsin Akhtar Mir.

For the financial year 2017-18, Urmila reported an income exceeding Rs.2.85 crore, while her husband declared Rs.5 lakh. Over the past five years, her annual income consistently surpassed Rs.1 crore, whereas her husband’s income varied between Rs.4 lakh and Rs.8 lakh.

In terms of cash and savings, Urmila had about Rs.2 lakh in cash and over Rs.62 lakh in her Public Provident Fund (PPF) accounts. She also maintained savings across various banks, totaling nearly Rs.51 lakh, with accounts in HDFC, SBI, PMC, and Saraswat Co-operative Bank. In contrast, her husband held around Rs.15,000 in cash and deposits exceeding Rs.34,000.

Urmila’s investments in shares, bonds, and mutual funds amounted to Rs.34 crore, along with insurance policies valued at Rs.2 crore. Her husband did not list any investments in these categories.

The 2019 affidavit highlighted Urmila’s ownership of multiple properties in Mumbai, particularly flats in Bandra, with a total market value around Rs.23.5 crore. Her husband owned a property worth Rs.30 lakh.

The actress has a collection of three cars, including a Mercedes and an I20, with a combined value exceeding Rs.73 lakh. Her husband possesses a Tata Storme and a Royal Enfield, together valued at Rs.17 lakh. Additionally, Urmila owns gold and diamond jewelry worth approximately Rs.50 lakh.

Urmila had no outstanding bank loans, but her husband had liabilities amounting to about Rs.18.94 lakh.

To summarize, with over Rs.62 lakh in PPF and more than Rs.51 lakh in bank accounts, Urmila had more than Rs.1.13 crore in cash and deposits. Her investments totaled over Rs.34 crore in shares, bonds, mutual funds, and portfolio management services. The total value of her real estate properties was more than Rs.23.5 crore, while her vehicles were valued at over Rs.73 lakh. Her jewelry was worth nearly Rs.50 lakh, and other assets totaled Rs.33 lakh. Consequently, Urmila Matondkar's net worth in 2019 was estimated at around Rs.60.5 crore.

In a turn of events, Urmila left the Congress party and joined Shiv Sena in 2020. Recent reports from September 2024 indicate that she has filed for divorce from her husband, with the couple having married in 2016.
