The US Open 2022's 23rd seed Nick Kyrgios was eliminated on Tuesday, September 6. In the quarterfinal match of the men's singles tournament at Arthur Ashe Stadium, the 27-year-old was defeated by Karen Khachanov of Russia 5-7, 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 4-6. After eliminating World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev in the Round of 16 during a four-setter match at the same location, Kyrgios was bubbling with confidence. He struggled to perform at his best against Khachanov, the 27th seed. Kyrgios was exceptional on first serves, managing 79 percent of the points. He struggled in the second, though, with a victory percentage of just 47. In addition, Kyrgios flattered to deceive because he committed 58 unforced errors as opposed to his opponent's 31. Although he scored 75 victories, 13 more than Khachanov, he was unable to move to the semifinals despite his best efforts. When it came to aces, Khachanov and Kyrgios both excelled, shattering 30 and 31 respectively. Kyrgios' suffering was increased by the fact that the latter committed five double faults as opposed to his opponent's three. In the third round of the Australian Open at Rod Laver Arena in 2020, Kyrgios defeated Khachanov. Karen was able to repay the favor to the Australian over two years later. After defeating Matteo Berrettini in the quarterfinal, Casper Ruud advanced to his second grand slam semifinal of the year. Khachanov will now face Ruud in this matchup. Meanwhile, the Moscow-born Khachanov made it to his first grand slam semifinal. Asia Cup 2022: Did India lose because of Bhuvneshwar?
