New Delhi: US President Joe Biden has congratulated India on the occasion of India's 75th Independence Day. He said, "New Delhi and Washington should show the whole world that two great and diverse democracies can work for the people everywhere.'' In a recent statement, Biden said, "I wish today a safe and happy Indian Independence Day for all those celebrating in India, in the United States, and around the world.''
At the same time, he said, "On August 15, 1947, guided by Mahatma Gandhi's message of truth and non-violence, India achieved its long journey towards freedom. Over the decades, our people-to-people relationship, including the vibrant community of more than 4 million Indian-Americans, has strengthened our partnership. The partnership between India and the US is more important than ever.'' The President further said, "We must show the world that our two great and diverse democracies can work for the people everywhere. I wish a safe and happy Indian Independence Day today in India, in the US, and for all those who celebrate around the world.''
On the other hand, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, "On behalf of the Government and the people of the United States, I extend my best wishes to the people of India on your 75th Independence Day. Relations between the US and India started seven decades ago and have now turned into a growing partnership.'' At the same time, he said, "There are some more important partnerships between the US and India. In view of our seventy-four years of friendship, our two democracies will continue to build a better tomorrow.''
