New Delhi: Gautam Adani, the founder and chairman of the Adani Group and this week's third-richest man in the world, will receive the USIBC 2022 Global Leadership Award this month in recognition of his "visionary leadership" and dedication to advancing US-India relations. Adani joins a distinguished group of business titans who have received the US Chamber of Commerce's US India Business Council (USIBC) award, including Jeff Bezos, the founder, executive chairman, and former president and CEO of Amazon, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Nasdaq president and CEO Adena Friedman, FedEx Corporation founder and chairman Fred Smith, and Kotak Mahindra CEO Uday Kotak. The chamber promoting US-India relations announced in a statement that the prize would be presented during the USIBC India Ideas Summit on September 7. Corporate executives from India and the United States who have shown a "active and dynamic commitment to improving the U.S.-India partnership" are presented the Global Leadership Award each year. Adani is the first Asian to rank among the top three richest persons according to the Bloomberg Billionaire's Index, with an estimated net worth of around $147 billion. After the announcement of the USIBC award, the Adani group tweeted they were “thrilled” at his being selected for the award and that it was a “great honour”. Atul Keshap, president of the USIBC and a retired ambassador, also went to the Adani Mundra Industrial Park in Kutch, Gujarat, on Thursday.
