Section 144 imposed in THIS district of UP, ban on gatherings of more than four people

Muzaffarnagar: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) are in force in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh in view of the upcoming festivals. It will prohibit the accumulation of more than four people without the permission of the concerned authority. Officials have informed in this regard on Tuesday.

According to Additional District Magistrate Amit Singh, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CRPC have been imposed in the area in view of upcoming festivals Muharram, Raksha Bandhan, and Janmashtami. Singh said the order has been issued to maintain law and order in the area which will remain in force till October 6. Meanwhile, six persons were injured when stone-pelting between two communities took place in Muzaffarnagar district of the state following an argument over the playing of songs. Police said the incident took place in Milana village under the Kotwali police station area on Monday.

Police said that DJ was playing during a birthday celebration here which started organically when some locals protested. Soon the controversy turned violent and stone-pelting began. Police said, a case has been registered against 22 persons under relevant sections including IPC, rioting, and attempt to murder. The accused are absconding.
